Sherlock The Hounds of Baskerville and The Reichenbach Fall

hounds2

Sherlock The Hounds of Baskerville written by Mark Gatiss and starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as John Watson aired on BBC 1 last Sunday to immense critical acclaim and highly impressive overnight viewing figures of 8.66 million (higher ratings than series 1).

Prior to Hounds airing in the UK a preview screening of the episode was held in Cardiff followed by a Q&A with Mark Gatiss, Steven Moffat, Sue Vertue and Benedict Cumberbatch. BBC Wales and BAFTA Cymru were kind enough to invite me to the event and you can see my photos from the preview screening as well as a transcript of the Q&A on the Sherlock site which also contains all the latest promotional photos for A Scandal in Belgravia, The Hounds of Baskerville and The Reichenbach Fall and all the latest reviews, press and press clippings and much more.

Sherlock concludes this Sunday with The Reichenbach Fall which airs on BBC 1 at 9:00 p.m.
They'll be tears before bedtime...

Happy New Year and Happy Sherlock Day!

Happy New Year from my good self at Cumberbatchweb!

Or indeed Happy Sherlock day as Sherlock: A Scandal in Belgravia airs tonight on BBC 1 at 8:10 p.m. Should you miss it (heaven forfend) it will be available on BBC Iplayer directly afterwards for viewing.

For all things Sherlock do check out our microsite which features all the latest promo photos, press articles and more. And if you hadn't read it due to fear of spoilers after the episode has aired you can check out our review of the episode (more reviews will be added tomorrow). A number of recent press interviews with Benedict have also been added to the site.

2011 was a great year for Cumberbatchweb. I never could have imagined that a site I set up for a handful of friends would end the year with over 368,000 hits - it's quite extraordinary. So thank you to everyone who visits and follows the site on twitter and tumblr and to the lovely people who e-mail with photos or links or just to say hi. You're all simply marvellous!

2011 was also a fantastic year, of course, for Benedict Cumberbatch. 2011 saw him filming two huge tv series with Sherlock and Parade's End, appearing in a sold out critically acclaimed theatrical production with Frankenstein at the National Theatre and starring in three films - Third Star, Wreckers and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy which was top of the UK box office for 3 weeks. In 2011 Benedict was also nominated for a BAFTA for best actor, nominated for a Moet British Independent Film Award for best supporting actor, was named GQ's actor of the year and jointly won the Evening Standard's Theatre Award for best actor with his co-star Jonny Lee Miller for Frankenstein. You can see a round up of Benedict's amazing year in pictures on our tumblr.

2012 will be an equally exciting year for Benedict. Sherlock starts airing tonight on the BBC with A Scandal in Begravia, followed by The Hounds of Baskerville and The Reichenbach Fall. On the 13th January War Horse (in which Benedict appears as Major Stewart) will be released in the UK and 2012 will also see the airing of Parade's End in which Benedict is playing the lead.

And then of course later on in the year will see the release of a small budget, independent film that Benedict is flying off to the other side of the world to start working on in January.
I think it's called...The Hobbit.

Happy New Year everyone!

Sherlock HolmesTV Serial

Sherlock Holmes 2010 TV Serial – Brilliant!

No, not the one with Robert Downy Jr. and Jude Law lah. It’s a British serial aired most recently.
Yang came back from the UK with 3 episodes of Sherlock Holmes and he made me watch the first episode with him.
I wasn’t very agreeable with his recommendation of “The IT Crowd” and Dr Who, though nice and strangely captivating, was a little too weirdly filmed for me to swallow.
But boy, I’m glad I did catch Sherlock Holmes!

Sherlock Holmes is amazing. I was captivated by the tales filed into a modern day Sherlock Holmes serial starring Benedict Cumberbatch (giggles) as Sherlock Holmes, and and Martin Freeman as Dr John Watsons. I love the way it’s filmed. It’s brilliant (cough). And I love the way they displayed text messages, in the scrolling manner. I’m not too fond of the accent though (I cannot get through accents. Argh.) but I like this better than The Mentalist. AND I’M IN LOVE WITH THE FONT THEY USED FOR THE TEXT MESSAGES. What is it?! damnit!
It is scheduled to air on America tv come October 24th. That shows how awesome it is.
